Javelin has an exciting opportunity for a dual role in its Old Town Alexandria office, to serve as an Account Executive and Social Media Manager on our growing Public Relations Team. We are seeking an ambitious and creative individual with a drive for communications and desire to interact daily with reporters, editors, and producers in national media as well as social media influencers and the new frontier of media personalities. The ideal candidate will also have strong social media skills and a desire to combine earned and social media strategies to achieve client success.

Responsibilities

Maintaining regular client contact, both verbal and written, across a range of accounts
Actively pursuing earned media opportunities to secure press results
Networking and building relationships with key members of national media
Developing story angles
Overseeing the development of tactics and the implementation of account strategy
Managing integrated campaigns, social media, and influencer work

Needs

BA or BS in communications, English, writing or a related field
2+ years of public relations or related experience
2+ years of experience managing social media campaigns across platforms
Works well under pressure
Works independently
Strategic thought
Excellent writing ability
Strong media relations skills
Industry relationships

Wants

Experience building media lists and familiarity with Cision
Experience crafting statements, press releases, and pitches for events and breaking news
Experience with social media content creation and managing partnerships with social media influencers and personalities
Existing relationships with members of national print, online, and broadcast media
Professional experience using Twitter and Instagram
