Michael Longclaws joins the Javelin team as a Literary Associate, where among his other interests he focuses on representing BIPOC and LGBTQ voices and underrepresented communities. A graduate of Michigan State University, Longclaws (his mother’s tribal name) has worked as a public school teacher and mentor to young people. He has been active in the Native American community since he was a child, and is a member of Ga-Ke-Nush-Koo-De-Ag, the Long Plains First Nation (Ojibway tribe). He is an Eagle Scout, enjoys hiking outdoors, swimming and underwater hockey, and was an officer in the College Diabetes Network at MSU.
